FACTS: Fertilizer comes only from grazing animals like cows that don’t eat meat. Their manure is healthy for grass because it is grass. Dogs are meat eaters. One gram of dog poop contains more than 20 million microbes — “parasites, bacteria, germs, pathogens and viruses harmful to humans” (per EPA). You can become ill eating fruits or vegetables “fertilized” by dog poop, which explains why it has zero commercial value as a fertilizer while cow manure is 79¢ a pound.
